From the publisher, Gerard Billaudot, Francois Bru’s Scales Based On Non-European Modes (From eastern tradition scales, to jazz scales and a glimpse at Olivier Messiaen), is a phenomenal book flutists would be pleased to have in their library. Bru states, "Scales volumes for the flute are often very concerned only with the major and minor scales, those most frequently found in tonal classical music. But many authors actually call upon other scales, that are mostly from outside Europe. Here, I have grouped together oriental scales (that contain two augmented seconds), the scales a semitone + a ton, a tone + a semitone (the limited transposition scales used by Olivier Messiaen) and certain scales found in contemporary music or in jazz: scales a tone and a half + a semitone, a tone and a half + a ton, as well as three pentatonic scales. All these exercises may be practiced legato, staccato and with different rhythmic formulas that juxtapose duple and triple time; this justifies the use of accents by seven or by five for certain passages."

For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
