Edition Svitzer presents 'Stealing Silence' for flute and marimba by composer Michael Burritt.
'Stealing Silence' was written for the renowned flutist Bonita Boyd, Professor of Flute at the Eastman School of Music. The first movement, 'X Remix,' is a reworking of material that I previously used for a solo piece and wanted to explore it in the chamber setting. It is characterized by animated musical language with frequent syncopation, creating an energetic and bouncy dialogue between the marimba and flute. Movement 2 is an evocative ballad and is greatly influenced by the music of the American composer Alec Wilder, and his beautiful work for marimba and flute. The final movement, 'Flashback,' is a fun romp between the two instruments employing a pseudo- blues scale, creating a sort of swagger in its musical countenance.

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
