Eldin Burton presents the Concerto for Flute in a reduction for flute and piano.
Nearly twenty years after winning the New York Flute Club competition with his enduring Sonatina for flute and piano - which is today his most widely-known work and a staple in the flute repertoire - Burton completed another piece for flute, the Concerto. He dedicated the piece to John Wummer, who served for two decades as the principle flutist of the New York Philharmonic.
The first movement, Allegro Moderato, establishes themes and playfully lets the flute run up and down in quasi-cadenzas over the orchestra (or piano) developments. The second movement, Theme with Five Variations and Coda, is a prime example of Burton's easy melody writing; simple steps and arpeggios come together brilliantly, and the set of variations explores a variety of styles before returning to the theme in a quiet tranquillo. The third movement, Allegro con fuoco, is a speedy, flashing finale, with an interlude full of melody.

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
