Hurricane! was written immediately after the composer personally experienced the wrath of 3 major hurricanes over a span of 6 weeks. Cast in four colorful and dramatic movements, this picturesque composition features the juxtaposition of serene passages with intense and violent sections. The overall form of this exciting work is analogous to the sequence of events that occur during the approach and passing of a hurricane.
In 4 dramatic movements: The Approach (1 45 ), The First Wave (1 35 ), The Eye (1 50 ), and The Second Wave (1 35 ).
