Howard J. Buss's Vibrant Horizons, originally for flute and band but here presented in a reduction for flute and piano by the composer, was written for flutist Brian Luce in the autumn of 2017. While not referring to any one individual in particular, this work is suggestive of a person s journey from one reality to another in its three movements.
New Beginnings (5'15'') has an optimistic character, and the spirited thrust of the music projects movement in a hopeful and positive direction. The contemplative second movement, Old Thoughts (5'45''), juxtaposes beautiful, atmospheric sections with brooding passages, as if to suggest a tension between desirable elements of the past with those that prompted the individual to seek new horizons. The final movement, Circles (6'30''), addresses the fact that once one is settled into a new situation, routines develop. When viewed over time these routines often resemble circular patterns.

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
