Cacciatore, M :: Orologio che pendi, che pungi [Clock that hangs, that stings]
Maurilio Cacciatore’s Orologio che pendi, che pungi is an astounding 21st century composition for flute and violin duo. Cacciatore simultaneously embodies ethereal and human qualities throughout his piece; Orologio che pendi, che pungi begins with haunting fortissimo double stops in the violin and airy low register flute trills open the piece. As the piece unfolds, the violin and flute build on the usage of extended techniques, such as energetic glissandi, ricochet and sul tasto techniques in the violin, and harmonics, jet whistles and vocal fry in the flute. The duration of this work is just under seven minutes, and advanced! As a courtesy, Cacciatore provides both parts in each score. Orologio che pendi, che pungi is an essential work for every flutists and violinists library. Maurilio Cacciatore is a prolific 21st century Italian composer.
