Editions Henry Lemoine presents Gilles Cagnard's 'Portraits Vol. 1' transcribed for flute and piano by Luc Urbain.
Composer Gilles Cagnard was born in Amiens (Somme) in 1946. He began his music studies in this city with Charles Jay, then director of the Amiens Conservatory and Grand Prix of Rome. After obtaining his baccalaureate, Cagnard devoted himself entirely to music and entered the National Conservatory of Music in Paris where he followed the lessons of Norbert Dufourcq, Maurice Durufle, Jean-Claude Henry, Barcel Bitsch, Elsa Barraine, and Tony Aubin. He obtained the highest awards while there. In parallel, he studied conducting with Louis Fourestier and Jean-Sebastien Bereau.
