Editions Henry Lemoine presents Regis Campo s Sphinx for solo flute. Composed in one movement, this etheral solo is suited for advanced players and features semi-tones and timbral changes that give the flute an otherworldly tone.

Born in Marseille in 1968, Regis Campo is a French composer of mostly stage, orchestral, chamber, choral, vocal, piano, and organ works that have been performed in Asia, Europe and North America.

Mr. Campo initially studied composition with Georges Boeuf at the Conservatoire a rayonnement regional de Marseille, as well as philosophy in Aix-en-Provence. He then studied composition with Gerard Grisey at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris, where he earned the Premier Prix de Composition in 1995. He also studied composition privately with Edison Denisov and Henri Dutilleux.

Among his honours are First Prize in the competition of the Internationale Gaudeamus Muziekweek in Amsterdam (1996, for Commedia ), Premier Prix, Prix Special du Jeune Compositeur and Prix du Public in the competition Henri Dutilleux (1996, for Exsultate Jubilate ), the Prix Herve Dugardin from SACEM (1999), and the Prix Pierre Cardin from the Academie des Beaux-Arts (1999). In addition, he earned a residency at the Villa Medici in Rome (1999 2001) and was twice a finalist for the Prix Prince-Pierre-de-Monaco (2001, for Les Jeux de Rabelais ; 2002, for 'Faerie ).

He is also active in other positions. He served as composer-in-residence to the Staatstheater Nuernberg in 2014 15. -Dan Albertson, 2017
