Emmanuel Chabrier's orchestral rhapsody, Espana, is perhaps his most well-known composition, and it was premiered in Paris in 1883. Inspired by his travels to Spain during the previous year, the composition had beginnings as a piano duet, but eventually evolved into a piece for full orchestra.
Instrumentation: Piccolo (doubles on C Flute), 6 C Flutes, 2 Alto Flutes, Bass Flute, Contrabass Flute (or Bass Flute 2)
