From the publisher, Gerard Billaudot, Christian Cheret’s ‘18 short rhythmical studies for beginner flutists’ is a great resource, pairing nicely with the 24 Marcel Moyse Melodic Studies. Beginning fairly easily in difficulty, these short exercises build upon each other, with focus on practicing tone, phrasing, technique, and articulation. Cheret’s exercises are lovely and are bound to keep flutists engaged and wanting to practice. Christian Cheret was a beloved French composer.
