Sara Claro's Suite No. 1 for woodwind quartet (flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon) builds a series of almost Stravinskian vignettes in five separate movements. Roiling, woody soundsbring to mind spring rites, long sacred-theme chorales a sense of the octet's Mass - punctuated by distinctly unusual moments, such as the clarinet's diversion into jazzy runs over thickly-moving chords.
