Czerny, C :: Fantasia concertante op. 256
Czerny, C
Carl Czerny presents the Fantasia Concertante Op. 256, for flute, cello, and piano.
'For most music lovers, Carl Czerny is almost exclusively known for his numerous piano studies. His other oeuvre, which exceeds the number of a thousand, has been forgotten. Although the quality of these works is very uneven (due to the sheer output and the constant outpour of Czerny's creativity), there are a number of compositions that are high level with their own special charm. Among these I would like to mention the Fantasie Concertante, which was written around the beginning of the 1930s.'
- Dieter H. Forster
In a single massive, continuous movement, the Fantasia Concertante could be said to span the entirety of human emotion - or, at least, the expression of human emotion through a rich neoromantic language. The three instruments act as equal partners, with drama, elegance, and strife in equal measure.
Duration: 15'. For advanced players.
