Antonio Victorino d'Almeida is one of the most prolific Portuguese composers. He has written everything, including piano solos, chamber music, symphony and choral-symphonic music, lied, opera, and cinematic and theater scores.
Where d'Almeida's first Fantasia for flute and piano (Op. 54) is a deeply dramatic, luscious work, this second Fantasia is shorter and more playful. Quick dance forms appear frequently, with highly rhythmic pulsation driving the majority of the piece.
