Daoust, E :: The Acceptance of Sand
ALRY Publications presents 'The Acceptance of Sand' for woodwind quartet by composer Eloise Daoust.
The composer writes about this piece, 'I wrote 'The Acceptance of Sand' during my time in Merida, Mexico, with little to no idea of how long I would be staying and how the months ahead would unfold. While I was eager to immerse myself in new experiences and explore the country's stunning landscapes, a part of me clung to the life I had left behind. And so, this piece reflects my journey of learning to embrace and adapt to my new life and surroundings. As I spent my first months living near the beach, the never-ending, exasperating particles of sand creeping inside the house became a central symbol in this piece. If you listen carefully, you might even hear the sound of the wind rustling through the palm trees and the waves of the Gulf of Mexico.'
