The composer writes about this piece, 'Written for a dear friend, this work explores and examines the landscape as if silence were a canvas and the notes - the paint of a humble landscape painter. 'Rural' is an invitation to ground oneself and observe. We are asked not to focus on minute detail, but also be engulfed by the overarching scenery, the impression. What natural beauties will take shape and unfold in front of our unexpecting eyes? Ever-growing and simultaneously ever slowing, let us pause and take note of these moments where we allow ourselves to just simply...be.'
