This solo is both lyrical and technical, showcasing rapid finger passages, mostly consisting of triplet sixteenth notes. The piano accompaniment is equally radiant and energetic, complementing the solo piccolo line effortlessly. Intermediate in difficulty, this five minute piece is an excellent addition to any recital. Michelis is a prolific 19th century Italian composer.
