Debussy, C :: Prelude a l'Apres-midi d'un Faune
Debussy, C
Claude Debussy s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, with one of the most famous flute solos ever written, is here masterfully arranged by Gudrun Hinze for a flute quintet consisting of three C Flutes, Alto Flute and Bass Flute. The second flute doubles on Piccolo, and the third flute has the option to double on a Schnarrkopf-Flote (or buzzing headjoint), which is explained further in the notes. A variety of timbres are explored throughout this masterwork and it has been recorded by Quintessenz, the Leipzig Flute Ensemble, of which Gudrun is a member.
