Elements of minimalism and impressionism create a colorful palette that evoke primitive textures in a modern chamber setting. The melodies found in Jason DeCristofaro's Trio for Flute, Marimba & Piano are very simple, reminiscent of folk melodies, but it is through the use of quartal-quintal harmony, chordal extensions, counterpoint, and sharp contrasts in dissonance and consonance that transform the otherwise repetitive figures into organic sounding lines where all three instruments are engaging in what sounds like a spontaneous, improvised dialogue.

'The Trio for Flute, Marimba & Piano was written based around a pentatonic ostinato centered on B. As I wrote the piece, I incorporated elements of minimalism and impressionism to create a colorful palette that would evoke primitive textures in a modern chamber setting. The melodies are very simple, reminiscent of folk melodies, but it is through the use of quartal-quintal harmony, chordal extensions, counterpoint, and sharp contrasts in dissonance and consonance that transform the otherwise repetitive figures into organic sounding lines where are all three instruments are engaging in what sounds like a spontaneous, improvised dialogue.'

For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
