Delgado, A :: The Panic Flirt
The Panic Flirt
Delgado, A
Alexandre Delgado presents The Panic Flirt for flute alone.
From the composer:
'I felt rather perplexed by the existence of a celebrated contemporary composer who advocates panic as an invaluable way of giving colour to music, a composer whose scores are blurred with notes which no one can play in full. Music overwhelmed by fear and anguish through the technical impossibility of being read and performed: a curious perception of the creative phenomenon indeed. It inspired me - by negative reaction - while writing this piece for solo flute.
The Panic Flirt is an allusion to the well-known flute of the notorious Greek god. I think both flirt and panic can somehow be traced in the struggle between the two musical characters of the piece. the result tends to be more humorous than anguished. Contemporary music does not have to be sinister or neurotic (or does it?).'
