Francois Devienne presents the first of the Opus 5 duos, here arranged for flute and clarinet duet.
Devienne (1759-1803) was born in Joinville in the north east of France, but moved to Paris where he was active as a soloist and an orchestral players on both flute and bassoon. He wrote successful operas in the 1790's. He was also a member of the Military Band of the French Guard, where his duties included teaching the children of his colleagues in it's Free School of Music..After the French Revolution, this became the National Institute of Music and subsequently was chartered as the Paris Conservatory in 1795. Devienne was appointed administrator and flute professor of this new institution. He wrote a highly influential flute tutor which was reprinted many times. A large proportion of his compositions are for wind instruments, with his music being particularly well known among flautists.

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
