Zimmermann presents Franz Doppler's Concert-Paraphrase op. 18 on Motives from Franz Schubert's Opera Die Verschworenen ['Der hausliche Krieg'] D787 for two flutes and piano.

Flutist-composer Franz Doppler and his younger brother Karl often performed joint concerts together, and Doppler wrote several virtuosic pieces for two flutes and piano that were often paraphrases of popular operatic works. This particular opera by Schubert was not particularly famous, but it contains beautiful vocal lines that Doppler embellishes masterfully. Written in two back-to-back movements, this virtuosic trio can serve as an excellent finale to a recital program.
