Franz Doppler's engaging, playful showpiece for flute duet has now been transcribed for piccolo, alto flute, and piano by Carla Rees. Taking advantage of the piccolo's brilliant, sparkling voice and the deeper strains of the alto to bring out the melodies, this arrangement of the Souvenir de Rigi is unusual - but remarkable.
