Draganski, D :: Klezmer Music
Draganski, D
Klezmer Music refers to the instrumental music based on the folk tunes and dances of the Yiddish-speaking Jews of Eastern Europe. There are three movements to this traditional piece.
The first movement, 'Hassidic Medley', is based on a medley of tunes which are typical of the Midzhits Hassidim. These are instrumental versions of tunes that were originally sung.
The second movement, 'Meditation', is cast in the form and mood of a slow rural dance that originated in East Rumania and Moldavia.
The third movement, 'Butcher's Dance', is a Bulgarian hora. A popular dance in which dancers hold hands and form a moving chain. The clarinet should be very much in the foreground throughout this entire movement.
