Gabriel Duarte presents Br[asas] N.2 for alto flute alone.
From the composer:
'The work Br[asas] N.2 is part of my major work 'Br[asas]', for solo instruments. Such title refers to the acronym of 'Brazil' and between square brackets the word 'wings' has, as an artistic reference, the act of freedom, being thus subliminally translated as 'Wings of Brazil'. Each individual work has its inspiration in some other Brazilian artistic form - poems, paintings, literary works, and so on.
Br[asas] N.2 was inspired by the poem 'The Wind' (O Vento) by the Brazilian poetess Cecilia Meireles, and its musical profile seeks to act as a reference to the poem. The music of the piece, even the simple music, appears, unfolds and disappears gradually, matched by the wind, represented by various 'vibratos smorazati', embouchure glissandi, and a peaceful ending.
