Durey, L :: Nicolios et la flute
Nicolios et la Flute
Durey, L
From the publisher, Gerard Billaudot, Louis Durey’s Nicolios et la Flute poem for flute and harp is a gorgeous soliloquy-esque duo. This flute line begins with a lengthy improvisatory solo. As the ear becomes lost within the flute texture, Durey softly introduces the harp. For the better part of this piece, the harp perhaps acts as the stasis of the flute; the flute energetically dances above the harp, only for a moment pausing in silence as the harp takes over the texture. Intermediate in difficulty and approximately six minutes in length, this duo is a fantastic choice for all flutists and harpists. Louis Durey was a prolific 20th century French composer.
