Karen Emtage s Riverumba was written in January 2013 for the flute ensemble CAFE (Cork Adult Flute Ensemble) in Cork, Ireland and first performed in Bandon, Co. Cork.
It uses simple pentatonic motifs to build a layered texture contrasting rumba rhythms with flowing, tightly interwoven lines. Accessible to players of about Grade 5 upwards.
