Ersoz, B :: Lament and Black Sea Dance
Scherzo Editions presents 'Lament and Black Sea Dance' for solo flute by composer Basak Ersoz.
From the composer, 'This piece consists of two consecutive parts: 'Lament' and 'Black Sea Dance.' While writing the 'Lament' movement, I was inspired by the music of Turkish Minstrels. Minstrels sing with the accompaniment of 'saz' and 'baglama' in response to a sad or happy event. The music and lyrics are almost always improvised. That's why the lament has a very free structure. In the 'Black Sea Dance,' I was inspired by the folklore music. In this section, the rhythmic structure is at the forefront.'
