Each of the five movements (or scenes) are dynamic, intriguingly quasi-impressionistic vignettes that exploit the instruments to their fullest. Almost a contemporary Ravel trio - with some playful touches of more modern writing - the Scenes is instantly engaging and utterly gorgeous.
