Andrei Yakovlevich Eshpai (b. 1925) - composer, pianist, graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, author of the ballets Angara and Krug, seven symphonies, other orchestral, chamber-instrumental, vocal and choral works. A. Eshpai's works include a unique series of concerts in the history of music for all instruments of the symphony orchestra. In addition, the composer has created music for many theatrical productions and films.
The 1994 Flute Concerto is here given in a live recording of its world premiere. It includes some of the haunting Mari folk tunes used in The Circle some 20 years previously. Another element is birdsong caught in the nets of a brusque and dissonant fantasy. The flute though is not called on do unnatural things although its demands on technique seem to be intimidating - both for soloist and orchestra (the very same that recorded the complete Ivan the Terrible music for Nimbus). The work arrives at heart s message at 0909 after which the solo part and the orchestra in chase careen, chicane and cartwheel their way through the piece. The concerto ends with the delightful breathing of the flute.

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
