Jean Francaix's Trio for flute, violoncello, and piano is an advanced trio sonata composed in 1995, two years before his death. A twentieth century French composer, Francaix was natrually gifted in music and began writing when he was only six years old. He published his first work at the age of ten which caught the attention of renowned composer and teacher, Nadia Boulanger whom considered Francaix to be one of her best pupils. Francaix was a skilled orchestrator which was reflected in his use of interesting timbres and tone colors which is evident in this beautiful trio sonata.
