Schott Editions presents Etienne Gilbert's 'Mosaique' for flute and piano.

Etienne Gilbert, born in Braine l'Alleud (Belgium) in 1938, studied the flute and harmony at the Conservatoire Royal of Brussels. From 1957-1958 he worked as a flutist in Ostend, later as a music editor at the Belgian Radio and Television (RTBF). From 1962-1977 he was professor of flute at the Academy of Uccle (Brussels), and from 1973 also professor of harmony at the Academies of St. Gilles and Woluwe-St-Lambert (Brussels). In 1978 he was appointed professor of musical education at the Mudra dance school and worked as a jury member at numerous competitions for flute and chamber music in Belgium. He has participated in numerous music events and performances both in Belgium and abroad.

Etienne Gilbert is a poet. His subtle compositions reflect the constantly changing expression of his moods and feelings. He masters his art with elegance and clarity and presents us rare gems which fascinate and delight us. He cultivates the decent and avoids the conspicuous. The gracefulness of his music blossoms with discrete elegance and is a source of joy for both the listener and the performer.
