Guiot, R :: Piece
Editions Lemoine presents 'Piece' for solo flute by Raymond Guiot.
Written in 1971 and dedicated to Yanet Puech, Raymond Guiot's 'Piece for solo flute' was originally conceived as part of a group of sonic illustrations, intended for radio and TV programs. Devoid of any jazz idioms, it is quite unlike most of Raymond Guiot's other concert pieces. The numerous melismas in the phrasing create a unique, eerie, and incantatory atmosphere, altogether striking for its fluidity and its delicate orientalism - thanks to its use of augmented seconds. Its 'faun-esque' climate shows and obvious influence of the great French solo flute repertoire.
