Composed to celebrate the life and legacy of famous piccoloist and pedagogue Jack Wellbaum, In a Yellow Wood explores the grief of loss and the joy of memory. It was commissioned by a consortium of Mr. Wellbaum's students and colleagues, led by Dr. Heather Verbeck, faculty member at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the University of Dayton.
