Hagen, T :: Reverie/Diablerie
Publisher: Owl Glass Music
Owl Glass Music presents 'Reverie/Diablerie' for flute and piano by composer Timothy Hagen.
The composer writes about this piece, 'Like many musical reveries, the first part of 'Reverie/Diablerie' wanders, seeming to cover a lot of ground yet ending expressively where it starts. Is his not us when we daydream? Our minds take us to fantastic new places and situations, where we can be anyone or do anything, all while our bodies are still.
'The daydream ends, and we face a choice. Dare we make our daydreams into reality, or do we leave our fantasies in a make-believe-land? The Diablerie chooses to realize the Reverie's fantasies in a mischievous yet harmless way. Picture a child anticipating the delights of Halloween-- the costumes, the parties, the trick-or-treating-- the finally letting loose when the night arrives. That letting loose is precisely what the Diablerie is all about- innocuous goblin joy.'
