Hagen, T :: The Longest Distance
Publisher: Owl Glass Music
Owl Glass Music presents 'The Longest Distance' for solo piccolo by composer Timothy Hagen.
The composer writes about this piece, 'The first wind phone still stands, and unconnected phone booth in a garden in Otsuchi, Japan. Itaru Sasaki, the garden's designer, intended it to allow living people to have one-way conversations with deceased loved ones. If you had the opportunity to speak to someone you loved and lost just one more time, what would you say? The Longest Distance imagines a version of that soliloquy in a work designed for first-time piccolo players, made possible by a consortium led by Dr. Jennifer Olson for the first annual California Conservatory Competition.'
