ALRY Publications presents 'Thou didst blow, from 'Israel in Egypt.' Originally written by G.F. Handel, this version has been arranged for flute quartet by Elizabeth Walker.

The arranger writes about this piece, 'This aria 'Thou didst blow with the wind' is from Part 2 of Handel’s 'Israel in Egypt' HWV54, originally in Eb for two oboes, bassoon and soprano voice. I’ve given the solo voice to the alto flute, and the bassoon part is a wonderful opportunity for the bass flute to shine, with semiquavers throughout. The two flutes have the oboe parts. As with all the numbers in 'Israel in Egypt,' Handel uses the text to create the atmosphere - here we have the wind blowing in the blustery semiquavers, and falling intervals for the word 'sank.''
