This edition of Haydn's The Seasons, for two flutes, is a pendant to the arrangement of Haydn's Creation for two flutes. Both versions document the great demand during the nineteenth century for arrangements of popular and well-known compositions for amateur musicians. The source for this present popular arrangement is a manuscript written by a Benedictine monk at the beginning of the nineteenth century, now in possession of the music library of Einsiedeln Abbey.
This arrangement of the Seasons is supremely well-done and captures the essence of Haydn while employing both flutes with great sensitivity, suitable for both recital and domestic use.
