Musicians Publications presents Dixieland Revival Meeting arranged by Paul Nagle and adapted from the Brass Quintet by Bill Holcombe Jr. for woodwind quartet. Scored for flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon, this flexible quartet also includes an optional bass clarinet part to replace the bassoon when necessary.
Dixieland is a form of jazz that developed in New Orleans at the start of the 20th century and swept across America. Going out of trend in the 30 s, as styles often do, Dixieland music found its revival in the 1940s which is what this particular piece is referring to.
This lively arrangement is an excellent source for ensemble members to perfect their Dixieland jazz style.
