Katherine Hoover presents Mariposas for small flute orchestra or choir.
From the composer:
'Mariposas is the Spanish word for butterflies. The piece loosely follows stages of a butterfly's short and glorious existence ... from the cocoon to the larval stage, then breaking out into free flight; hovering, swooping, floating. I have chosen to use four solo flutes, backed by a larger ensemble of flutes. The piece includes some improvisation; first for the four solo flutes, and at the end, for the entire ensemble.'
