It seems a pity that the great composers of the Classical era never had the opportunity to write in the Ragtime style, assuming of course that they would have wanted to. Nevertheless, considering the indications of a wonderful sense of humor manifested in the compositions of such masters as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Josef Haydn, one could hope that they might approved of this marriage between two disparate school, or at least refrain from public approbation or legal action.
This work is intended to be a lighthearted piece, ideally suited for inclusion in programs of a humorous nature. The astute listener will recognize the presence of themes borrowed from Mozart's serenade (popularly known as Eine Kliene Nachtmusik), and Haydn's Symphony in G major, No. 94, the so called 'Surprise' Symphony.
