Hugo Kauder's Trio for piano, flute, and horn is a high example of Kauder's personal language, written without conventional bar lines and extensive use of polyphony, lyricism, and mixed-meter ideas. In three movements - Lento, Vivace, and Sostenuo-andante-vivace - the Trio is both appealing and slightly strange in that unique, intriguing 20th Century sort of way.
