Edwin F. Kalmus presents "Three Grand Trios op. 86 Volume II (D Major)" for three flutes by composer Friedrich Kuhlau.

Friedrich Daniel Rudolf Kuhlau was a German-Danish composer during the Classical Period. He was born in Germany and, after losing his right eye in a street accident at the age of 9, he studied piano in Hamburg. He fled to Copenhagen to avoid conscription in Napoleon's Army, and in soon became a Danish citizen. During his lifetime, he was known primarily as a concert pianist and composer of Danish opera, but was responsible for introducing many of Beethoven's works to Copenhagen audiences. Considering that his house burned down, destroying all of his unpublished manuscripts, he was a prolific composer and left more than 200 published works.
