What is more natural, refreshing and inspiring than a child singing at play? Here is a selection of songs originally sung by children playing in fields and meadows, in dismal slums, in tens made of buffalo skin, on garbage heaps, while looking after camels, in front of igloos. They have been given a rhythmical framework and a short prelude or postlude. The melodies are so lovely, sunny, and joyful that they need no text. The accompaniment is very simple and can be performed by a pianist with only two or three years of study.
