Lancen, S :: Concerto Da Camera
Concerto Da Camera
Lancen, S
From the publisher, Gerard Billaudot, Serge Lancen’s Concerto Da Camera for solo flute and orchestra is an advanced concerto with avant-garde flavors. This version for flute and piano is equally dazzling. Written in 1962, the orchestral accompaniment is thick, quite active, and at times simultaneously performs the same technical passages a third away. This piece compares well with the style of Jolivet’s concerto, however, Concerto Da Camera often sounds like a concerto grosso. Lacen demands utmost control in all registers, embouchure flexibility, clean articulation, and breath support, as well as exceptional technical facility. Flutists will enjoy having this concerto in their personal library. Serge Lancen was a 20th/21st century French composer and pianist.
