Larcher, T :: deep red, deep blue
Schott Editions presents Thomas Larcher's deep red, deep blue for flute and piano, first performed in March 2019.
This advanced contemporary work for flute and piano includes multiple extended techniques for both instruments. The flute part requires techniques such as flutter tonguing, breath sounds, and alternate fingerings, while the piano part requires a prepared piano by dampening certain strings with rubber wedges.
The title of this work refers to the rock band Deep Purple, mentions composer Thomas Larcher. "...if you mix deep red with deep blue you will get Deep Purple. A quotation from their song Child in Time appears at the climax of this little piece."
