Lesburgueres, J :: Une flute itinerante
Lesburgueres, J
This collection of six short pieces - for flute and accompanying electronics - by Jacques Lesburgueres is engaging and original, with a diverse selection of styles.
In the first piece Devil s Dance, Indian colors swirls against tubular bells, sitars, tablas, and other flutes.
The second piece, Marine , is more traditional; melodically and rhythmically it s simple, with gentle pop-like charm.
Fleur de jasmin , accompanied by harp and percussion, is undoubtedly inspired by Ravel - Empress of the pagodas from Ma mere l oye emerges with the doubled eighth notes precipitating in pentatonic mode.
It is the savannah that one imagines in Africa Jingle , thanks to the African percussion in the electronic part.
Rue Montmartre is quieter, played with a string quartet, a harp, and a glockenspiel.
The last piece, Noel au Balkan , has a very quick tempo with shifting time signatures in odd measures with irregular accents. This modal Christmas evokes the folklore of the Balkans with its accompaniment of flutes, clarinets, double basses, and percussion.
