Levine, B :: Reflections
Bruce Levine's Reflections (2002) is a collection of four short works for various flutes and piano:
1. Sounding more like it was written in the early 1900s than 2000s, The Pinkerton Rag is a fun piece that will brighten up any program and have audiences tapping their feet in time.
2. Ilona’s Waltz is a bright waltz that lets the flute sing in the style of a coloratura soprano.
3. Parasol, for alto flute and piano, evokes the by-gone era of the English Music Hall Parasol, and conjures up visions of girls dressed in white and gas lights.
4. Scottish Blues is a crossover piece for classical musicians who want a piece with a jazz feel for their program – a jazz etude – while maintaining the integrity of the bass flute as a concert instrument.
