Linthicum-Blackhorse, W :: C10H15N: The meth'd out Piccolo
ALRY Publications presents "C10H15N: The meth'd out Piccolo," a duet for piccolo and piano by composer William Linthicum-Blackhorse.
The composer writes about this piece, "This composition is divided into 3 separate, yet fluid movements. Theatrical components are optional and include the pretend use of drug paraphernalia related to the consumption of the deadly street drug Methamphetamine (C10H15N). This work's main purpose is to EDUCATE everyone about the harms of methamphetamine.
"This music allows the audience to experience what meth feels like through the imagery of the Piccolo consuming more and more until its eventual death. Use this music as a way to teach people about the dangers and signs of meth use and addition. Let the Piccolo speak through the torment of drug abuse and allow yourself to experience the mind-bending paranoia and insanity that follows the use of methamphetamine. Have fun with the music and enjoy the fast, wild runs and devolving chords that utilize both instruments' full ranges, including extended techniques."
