It does not fray and helps prevent skin contact directly to the metal of the lip plate. It fits neatly over the lip plate and can remain on a flute for a long time. That means the package of 12 will last and last. And, when the time finally comes for a change, the Patch can be easily removed without leaving any sticky residue.
