Triosonate G-dur [Trio Sonata in G Major] op. II/12
Loeillet, JB

The extreme scarcity of biographical information on the Belgian Loeillet family of musicians and the generally contradictory accounts of various historians make it impossible to report in detail on the life of Jean Batiste Loeillet, who called himself Mr. John Loeillet on the title pages of his printed works. He is today called the 'London Loeillet' or 'John of London' because of his long sojourn in Londo and in order to distinguish him from his cousin, 8 years his junior, who we know as Jean Baptiste Loeillet de Gant.

This Sonata a 3 con due traversa - Trio Sonata for two flutes and basso continuo - was taken from a collection published in London in 1725. A realized keyboard accompaniment is provided in this Barenreiter edition, with an extra basso continuo pull-out part included.
